Local Legends

There are a lot of aspects of We. The Culture: Works by The Eighteen Art Collective that make it special, but the eighteen individual artists who make up the collective are certainly the most special. They came together in August 2020 to paint the Black Lives Matter mural on Indiana Avenue and now, two and a half years later, have a body of work up in the Indianapolis Museum of Art that represents each of them as individual artists and creators. Local Legends is a new column that will continue through the run of the exhibition and will cover each artist in solo interviews with Emily Sogard, Natalya Herndon, and Taylor Hurt.
