Inspired By...

Inspired By… is an annual exhibition featuring artwork by K-12 students across the state of Indiana. Each year a masterwork from the Indianapolis Museum of Art collection is selected as the inspiration piece. Teachers may build a lesson and have students create their own work of art inspired by the selected masterwork for submission to this juried show.

The inspiration piece will be on view in the IMA Galleries. Please schedule a field trip if you would like to view the work with your class in person.

Inspired By… follows this schedule every school year:

2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR:

INSPIRED BY UNIVERSAL BEAUTY: The Tie Rack by Jacob Lawrence

This year, students were inspired by The Tie Rack by Jacob Lawrence - the universal beauty and "endlessly fascinating patterns" of daily life - the things we view as utility as seen through the artist's eye. To participate, educators teaching Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to develop classroom lessons focused on these themes and submit student works of art to Newfields.
