Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), an English librarian, becomes captivated with starting an archaeological dig at the ancient city of Hamunaptra to build her credibility amongst her fellow scholars. She ropes in her brother Jonathan (John Hannah) and gains the help of Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser), after saving him from his death, to help her on her expedition. Little do Evelyn, Jonathan, and Rick know they have some competition for the same dig. Unfortunately for everyone, this group ends up unleashing a curse that has long been laid to rest. The Mummy, the once High Priest Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), arises to take his vengeance. He wreaks havoc in his search for the reincarnation of his long-lost love. It is going to take a lot more than guns to send him back to the underworld.
