Members Only Talk: The Surreal Story of Dalí's Watercolors with Sadie Arft
5 PM
Through the end of February 2025, visitors have a rare opportunity to see four large watercolor paintings by Salvador Dalí in THE LUME Indianapolis. The paintings are on view for the first time since 1979. So why have they been in storage for over four decades? And how did the Indianapolis Museum of Art end up with them in our collection?
Join us for the surreal story of Dalí's watercolors led by Curatorial Assistant, Sadie Arft. Sadie will captivate with this strange tale involving her research at the New York Public Library; an ambitious opera that toured Venice, Brussels, and Paris; and a legal battle between Dalí and the opera's producer and male lead, Lorenzo Alvary.
