Young Actors Theatre
Inspired by the life of: Sarah Breedlove (AKA Madam C.J. Walker)
When a group of middle-schoolers wander off during a museum tour, they come across a storage room that is more than it seems. Each artifact they discover takes them back in time to the life of Sarah Breedlove, the first member of her family born into freedom. They follow Sarah through the struggles and successes of her life as she becomes Madame C.J. Walker, the first female millionaire in the world and a woman with a legacy that lasts to this day.
Young Actors Theatre creates original plays that are by youth and for youth. This show (runtime 50 minutes) features 4th-8th grade Indianapolis student actors. All performances of Breedlove include post-show Q&A with the cast and education guide with classroom extension activities. Gallery tours available at no additional cost for Newfields shows! Ask upon registration.
