Remembering Jimmy Carter at Newfields
11 AM–4 PM

Join us to commemorate the life and legacy of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Newfields.

Jimmy Carter’s legacy was created not only through his presidency, but also through decades of service after he left office. In a day of remembrance and reflection we will learn about Carter’s work to protect the environment, build a better world, and promote our shared humanity through art and nature.

Guests will see a screenprint portrait of President Jimmy Carter by Andy Warhol from the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Collection. This is the first time the large-scale, colorful portrait has been on view in the Museum. It is edition 42 of 50 and is signed in ink by Jimmy Carter and signed in pencil by Andy Warhol.

Guests will be able to participate in a reflection activity to share how his legacy inspires them and will be able to watch live coverage of the National Funeral Service from a PBS livestream.
