Kenyettá Dance Company presents Stories

Experience Kenyettá Dance Company’s (KDC) return to The Toby as they unveil reflective narratives brought to life by Co-Artistic Directors, Nicholas A. Owens and Lalah Ayan Hazelwood with Lighting Designer Bai Rosa. KDC’s thrilling premiere of A Place in Time with music composed by Indianapolis’ own Hanna Benn featuring the North Corner Chamber Orchestra was one of the top three New Works award winners selected by the Center of the Performing Arts in 2022. This four part work is visual, musical, and emotionally moving interpretation that addresses systemic oppression with a message of hope, promise, and empowerment for all mankind. 

Owens and Hazelwood have also created three world premiere ballets that celebrate our dreams, aspirations, relationships, and realities with innovation, creativity, and dedication to artistic excellence. Our company artists have accepted the challenge. Audience favorite Skin Deep choreography by Nicholas A. Owens returns to the stage and features several KDC alumni. The legacy continues.
