Join speaker Leon Kirkland at Newfields for Getting PAPER: Art Collecting and Investing Made Accessible. This 45-minute master class is geared toward novice art collectors and casual art lovers, Getting PAPER covers the six key considerations that should go into any art purchase, the necessary habits of a collector, and the value of collecting limited editions prints and other works on paper.

Leon Pelzer Kirkland is a longtime collector of works on paper by Black and women artists. He started Pelzer Projects in 2023 to promote art education and accessibility. Based in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, the company produces limited-edition prints pairing artists with master printmakers. A lawyer by profession, Kirkland has spent the last 13 years of his career at a leading global bank where he currently serves as Associate General Counsel. A Philadelphia native, he holds a B.A. from Morehouse College and a J.D. from New York University.
