First Look: THE LUME Indianapolis featuring Connection: Land, Water, Sky - Art & Music from Indigenous Australians
7–9 PM

Be transported to the otherside of the world at the First Look for Connection: Land, Water, Sky - Art & Music from Indigenous Australians on Friday, May 9 from 7 to 9 PM.

Be among the first to experience the newest iteration of Newfields’ most popular exhibition, THE LUME Indianapolis. Through the interplay of art and music, Connection welcomes you to Country – the Indigenous Australian worldview that everything living is connected. This breathtaking exhibition features art and music from over 100 contemporary Indigenous Australian artists.

First Look is the start of a weekend of celebration and discovery. Connection artist Konstantina (Kate Constantine) will join us from Australia to celebrate the opening of this visually stunning and profound exhibition. Guests will enjoy a new culinary experience, called Café Ngura, with a creative menu that celebrates Indigenous Australian ingredients for a delightful selection of bush spice-infused teas and coffee, freshly baked pastries, light meals and specialty drinks.

Connection is an experience co-created and produced by Grande Experiences and The National Museum of Australia. Connection was developed and supported by a curatorial advisory panel of experts and leaders in the arts, including producer, director and arts executive Rhoda Roberts AO, Indigenous photographic artist Wayne Quilliam, Aboriginal art specialist Adam Knight and National Museum lead Indigenous curator Margo Neale.

This experience honors the vital contribution that First Peoples artists make to Australia’s design, arts, and cultural landscape.
