Family Day: In Your Element

Get in your element! Bring your little ones and spend your summer Saturday exploring and experimenting with the elements; earth, sun, wind, and water, in The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. Creative kiddos will enjoy art making activities including cyanotypes and kites under the Align sculpture. Channel your inner sun-loving creature by getting your face painted as a turtle or lizard. Learn about wetland preservation with hands-on activities with Restoring our Waterways and Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Bee-lieve it! Evan Williams will join us to share his pollinator-expertise with guests of all ages. After all that activity, rest and relax with lawn games and hammocks in the meadow by Funky Bones. Aw'sum Snoballs and the Bearded Bagel food trucks will be joining us for the day but picnics are also encouraged. Treasure hunt maps will be available at the Welcome Tent for guests to take along the path around the lake to find features of the park. When complete, pick up a prize at the Welcome Tent!
Be prepared to be out in the elements! We encourage you to bring water, sunscreen and bug spray, and to wear sturdy shoes and sun protection. Small amounts of extra supplies will be available at the Welcome Tent as well as an onsite EMT for medical emergencies.
Shuttles will be available from Newfields Welcome Center on the main campus to Fairbanks Park from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Please note that Family Day is a free event in The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. General Admission tickets will be required to visit the Indianapolis Museum of Art and The Garden.
Family Day: In Your Element presented by Edward Jones is a fair-weather event! If the weather is looking iffy, please check Newfields social media @NewfieldsToday. The first weather call will be on Friday at 4 PM, the final weather call will be Saturday morning at 9 AM.
