Family Day: Art & Nature Park Adventure

Adventure abounds at Family Day in the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. Take a mile long hike around the lake and stop along the way to discover how Newfields is supporting our landscape and wildlife from our horticulturists, partners and artists. Experts including the Arboretum on Wheels from Boone County Arboretum, Purdue Extension and Marion County 4H, RAFT, and Evan Williamson, Newfields resident beekeeper, and more will be there hosting activities and answering questions along the way.  

Pack a picnic to enjoy in the meadow or enjoy meal from one of the food trucks, including Da Blue Lagoon, by the picnic benches on the right hand side of the Welcome Tent. Save room for dessert, Kona Ice will be serving up icy treats. Family Day isn’t complete without art making activities which will include building bee hotels. 

Please note: Parking is limited at the Art & Nature Park additional parking is available on the upper campus. Shuttle service will be available to the Art & Nature Park from 10:30 am–5 pm. Pick up for the shuttle service is at the entrance doors of the museum. 

Some activities may be cancelled and or moved inside due to weather. Check Newfields website and social for a ran call on Friday, July 16 at 5 pm. It could be hot and sunny! To stay comfortable and healthy, pack a water bottle and sunscreen.
