Landscape painting served many purposes in China’s history – as status symbols, as signs of cultural refinement, as visualizations of religious and philosophical ideas, as political protests, as and as a means of self-expression. Dr. Xiaolong Wu, art history professor at Hanover College, will introduce important works of this rich and diverse tradition.
