A Conversation with Composer Judith Clurman in partnership with the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation
6 PM

Enjoy the first night of Chanukah with an evening of conversation about joyous music. Cantor Aviva Marer from the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation will lead a discussion with renowned Conductor Judith Clurman. As a conductor and educator, Judith Clurman has collaborated with some of the world’s most distinguished ensembles, composers, and institutions. She is a passionate advocate of new music and innovative programming. Judith is currently the musical director for Essential Voices USA (EVUSA), an ensemble that has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and on NPR’S Tiny Desk Concerts, and has recorded numerous commissioned works and holiday music.

Clurman’s arrangement, “Songs of Freedom: A Celebration of Chanukah,” is a collection of six lively songs celebrating the Festival of Light. “Songs of Freedom” debuted with The New York Pops and Essential Voices USA on December 10, 2010, at Carnegie Hall and has since become a soundtrack to the season. For the eight days of Chanukah, Landscape of Light at Winterlights will dance and dazzle to the arrangement.

Following the conversation, guests are invited to visit Winterlights to experience the display. Winterlights tickets are required.
