The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park was a buzz with excitement the second weekend in June as we opened Home Again the first new installation of three significant works in the The Hawryluk Collection of Art in Nature in over a decade.
Out With Offensive Plant Names
Newfields' very own Jaime Frye is making moves in the world of plant-naming. In July 2024 she presented before her peers of botanists, horticulturists, and public garden professionals at the International Botanical Conference in Madrid. Her subject? Derogatory naming in botany. Her mission? Guide and inform respectful name changes for plants with names that are unquestionably hurtful to a group of people.
Pick Your Flicks
A favorite summer tradition is back at The Amphitheater at Newfields. 15 films will play outside on the big screen on Friday nights in June, July, and August for The National Bank of Indianapolis Summer Nights Film Series. Pack a picnic, pick up some popcorn, and prepare for a Shrek-tacularly good time. Members get first pick on tickets beginning April 30.
