Lindsay Hamman

"Visits to museums with my Mom, attending musicals and ballet with my grandparents—these experiences fostered my love of art and a need to be part of a cultural organization. I see it as my job to help our audience make those same connections through our programs.”

Lindsay Hamman, the new director of public programming, has been involved with Newfields since her college days.

Hamman’s journey started with an internship between her freshman and sophomore years in college, and she went on to get a part-time job with the guest services department in 2000. She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a degree in art history and psychology, and a minor in photography.

After graduating, Hamman worked with the Arts Council of Indianapolis at the Indianapolis Artsgarden before coming to Newfields in the summer of 2005. She has held several different roles here, from guest services coordinator to tour coordinator and program coordinator.

Now, as the Director of Public Programming, Hamman’s goal is to continue growing diverse experiences at Newfields. She supervises various wellness, community and family programs, films and exhibition openings, and residencies like Indy Film Fest, Heartland Film Fest, Indianapolis Ballet, and many more. Hamman plans to use her love of art to connect her programs to members of the Indianapolis community.
