Botanical Book Club: Double Feature Black Orchids and The Potted Gardener

6–7:45 PM | Garden Terrace at Newfields

Dive into Black Orchids, a novel from Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe Series where we will discuss the world of Nero Wolfe, a famous detective in New York City with a roof top greenhouse filled with thousands of orchids. Wolfe and his hilarious sidekick, Archie, untangle a flower show murder. Then we will crack into the second book, The Potted Gardener: An Agatha Raisin Mystery by M.C. Beaton featuring a London PR Manager who retires to the Cotswolds fearing boredom and instead finds herself entangled in a series of murders, this one a beautiful neighbor is murdered on the eve of the village garden show.

Shinique Smith: Torque

Now through June 1, guests will be welcomed into the Indianapolis Museum of Art by a newly commissioned piece from artist Shinique Smith. Smith’s multi-sensory installation is suspended in the Efroymson Family Entrance Pavilion and combines banners of printed and painted textiles, found objects, and the sounds of racing, speed and motion.
