Pick Your Flicks
It’s time to pick your flicks for this summer’s National Bank of Indianapolis Summer Nights Film Series at Newfields. This year’s lineup features 15 film-tastic evenings of movies from PG-animated favorites to classic comedies.
We kick off this summer with the sold-out Casablanca (1947) on Friday, June 7. Tickets are $9 for members and $12 for the public and there are still tickets available for almost every film this season, but they are going quickly. Don’t dilly-dally – gather your crew, make your plan, and get tickets for an evening under the stars.
To help you choose, here are a few highlights:
-
Full moon on Friday, June 21: You’ll be Moonstruck (1987) watching this romantic drama under the first full moon of the summer in the Northern Hemisphere. The moon will reach peak brightness at 9:08 PM during the showing.
-
Welcome race fans! On Friday, July 19: It’s pedal to the metal for a screening of Grand Turismo (2023) and Shinique Smith’s exhibition opening in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Arrive early to see Torque, a racing-inspired brand-new artwork.
-
Go for gold. On Friday, August 2*: Celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympics with the 1993 comedy Cool Runnings. When a Jamaican sprinter is disqualified from the Olympic Games, he enlists the help of a dishonored coach to start the first Jamaican Bobsled Team. Irv (John Candy) provides comic relief in a challenging tale inspired by a true story.
These are just a few of the special evenings we are celebrating under the stars this summer. You will also find two evenings of Indy Shorts International Film Festival on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, which will show a selection of Oscar®-nominated & winning short films presented by Heartland Film.
*Members, we are celebrating you in August. You get free popcorn at Cool Runnings on Friday, August 2 and on Friday, August 30 for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
See you under the stars.
