Winter Nights Film Series: Resplendent Dreams
Inspired by the extravagant exhibition, Resplendent Dreams: Reawakening the Rococo, this Winter Nights Film Series celebrates opulence, imagination, and identity through the lens of cinema. Each night begins with a Q&A led by Newfields’ Michael Vetter, PhD and a featured Resplendent Dreams artist, where they will share insights into their creative processes and the themes that shape their work. Then, sit back, relax, and enjoy a film handpicked by the featured artist. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

The Birdcage with Anthony Sonnenburg
Friday, January 23
Enjoy this beloved comedy where a gay cabaret owner and his drag-queen partner hilariously attempt to pass as straight to impress their son’s fiancée’s ultra-conservative parents. Heartfelt, witty, and unapologetically fabulous, it’s a celebration of love, identity, and chosen family.

Marie Antoinette with Robert Horvath
Friday, February 6
Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette reimagines the life of the young Austrian archduchess (Kirsten Dunst) who is thrust into the French court as she marries the Dauphin (Jason Schwartzman) and later becomes queen. Surrounded by extravagance, temptation, and the weight of expectation, her dazzling rise unfolds just as a revolution brews outside the palace walls.

Paris is Burning with Diego Montoya
Friday, February 20
This landmark documentary captures the vibrant resilience of New York City’s ballroom culture where queer and trans communities crafted their own worlds of beauty, identity, and celebration. Groundbreaking and deeply human, the film offers powerful context to the themes explored in the exhibition.
