Wee Wonders

Join us for an adventure with art and nature. Participants and their grown-ups will sing songs, read a story, and make art while exploring the IMA Galleries or The Garden at Newfields.  

This fun-filled experience is specially designed for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers; younger siblings are welcome. One adult is included per child. There will be activities and spaces to explore each week. Additional adults are welcome with a General Admission ticket. When the season and weather allows, Wee Wonders will be held outside. If the weather is crumby or cold, we will be inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art. 

Not ready for your art adventure to end? Tickets include General Admission so you can continue exploring after Wee Wonders. If you have questions, please email WeeWonders@discovernewfields.org

November 13 | Colors

Colors, colors everywhere. Finding colors is extra fun at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Explore the rainbow of colors to be found during an art hunt, learn about colors through story time, and play with colors during craft time.

On November 13, we'll read A Book About Color by Mark Gonyea and craft a watercolor initial.

December 11 | Ponds

Introduce your little one to the biodiversity of pond life. We will explore the IMA Galleries for artworks with rivers and ponds, read a story to dive a little deeper, and create our own artistic ponds together. 

We'll read Over and Under the Pond by Kate Messners and Christopher Silas Neal and craft a duck pond mixed media piece.

January 8, 22 | Art Museum

Whether this is your first or 100^th time at an art museum, this is the class for you. We will be looking at classic paintings and new artwork acquisitions to Newfields in this month's classes. Join us to explore the IMA Galleries, enjoy story time, and create some framed artwork to take home. 

On January 8, we'll read Babar's Museum of Art by Laruent de Brunhoff and craft a magazine collage.

On January 22, we'll read The Museum by Susan Verde and Peter H. Reynolds and craft an abstract art piece.

February 12, 26 | Indiana

Learn about where you live through local art and artists. Discover local artists in a guided gallery experience, read books about Indiana, and create artwork inspired by Indiana.

On February 12, we'll read H is for Hoosier by Cynthia Furlong Reynolds and Bruce Langton and craft a process painting of the state.

On February 26, we'll read Curious Critters Indiana by David FitzSimmons and paint a wooden car.
