Exploring Felrath Hines: Great for Ages 5–11 (Elementary School)
This lesson introduces students to abstract art through the
work of Indianapolis born artist, Felrath Hines. Students
explore how color and shape can be used to express emotions.
Exploring Jacob Cox: Great for Ages 11–14 (Middle School)
Students explore landscape and urban development through
Jacob Cox’s painting. They analyze historical and
environmental elements in art.
Exploring Patterns: Great for Ages 14–18 (High School)
Visual patterns are all around us. Think about the bricks in the courtyard, the leaves of a bush, the stripes on a crosswalk, or even spoons waiting to go into the dishwasher. A pattern is a design that is repeated multiple times for purposes of decoration or communication (or both!)
