Director's Choice 2019
See what’s new in the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s collection, and maybe discover a new favorite piece of art, in this exhibition highlighting recent acquisitions. Curated by the Newfields Melvin & Bren Simon Director and CEO, Dr. Charles L. Venable, this installation features gifts from our friends and donors to the Indianapolis community and has become a new, highly anticipated tradition at Newfields. Many of the pieces will be on view for the first time, including exciting recent acquisitions, paintings, sculptures and fashion design, emphasizing the museum’s broad collection of art across history and disciplines. Highlights of the show include a silkscreen portrait of Stephen Sprouse by Andy Warhol, the Rembrandt Nō Mask carved by Bidou Yamaguchi, an Alexander McQueen dress, and an array of design objects from the estate of George R. Kravis II.
